Restaurant Surakarta is a little Indonesian restaurant in the center of Leiden. The restaurant has simple decorations that give it a nice ambiance.

Surakarta serves 6 vegetarian main dishes and a vegetarian menu (appetizer, main dish and dessert). At the moment Surakarta serves only one vegetarian appetizer. Besides the vegetarian dishes that I described above, Surakarta also serves a vegetarian Rice Table, which is a combination of a lot of small dishes.

Open daily from 5PM.

Nice Place, Average Food

The restaurant is small and simple, with a few Indonesian decorations (and heavy incense). The yellow rice and the service were good, but the other dishes were not very refined. The coconut icecream was nicely presented, and tasty. My friends saide the meat rijstafel was disappointing.

Real Indonesian Ambiance

Yesterday I had diner in Restaurant Surakarta. It's a nice little restaurant with a great ambiance. When eating there, you will experience the real Indonesia. (I know, because I have lived in Indonesia for 4 years.)

The food and service are very good. Vegetarians have a good choice in vegetarian dishes. The prices are very reasonable for Dutch standards. I'll certainly be visiting this restaurant a lot in the near future!
