Today’s youth, particularly the ones who have come from Tibet and have a refugee status must inculcate these principles for their own development and to have peace of mind. The message from mahakaruna [Sanskrit: ‘great compassion’] has clearly asked us to follow and preach love and compassion for all living beings.”

The global trade in caviar and other products made from the wild, endangered sturgeon fish has been banned.
"We were unable to approve the export quotas for this year," a spokesman for Cites, the convention for trade in endangered species, told BBC News.

Although they may not be aware of it, vegetarians all over the world can be credited with helping to conserve nature and the environment.
Meat is a regular part of the diet in Western countries. But what does consumption of meat entail in terms of the environment? It leads to the destruction of millions of hectares of rainforest and pastureland. On the area thus cleared, fodder is grown to feed the animals that will later be slaughtered for the dining tables of meat eating humans.
